Beautiful 19th Century Spode blue and white transferware pedestal bowl in the ‘Castle Gateway’ pattern. I think this would have been used to serve fruit compote back in the day but I use mine for displaying seasonal decor or for holding sweet treats.

The underside is impressed with the Spode name and the number 23 as well a blue ‘B’.

In very good condition with no chips or cracks and it came from a private collection from a Suffolk house.
