Antique Edwardian Crewel Embroidery Picture - Circa 1910
A charming antique Edwardian framed crewel needlepoint embroidery depicting a traditional English country house and garden. The frame is a later Victorian scalloped gold leaf frame made in Bolton which was repurposed by Hills & Rowney of George Street in Oxford. It was painted with white gesso and part silvered around 1910.
Origin: English
Era: Circa 1910
Size: Frame is length 37 cm / height 32.5 cm / depth 4 cm. Actual embroidery is length 19.5 cm / Height 15.5 cm.
Condition: Embroidery in very good condition. Some knocks and bumps to frame. The frame is the original. I was loathe to fix the back of the frame as this would have destroyed the original labels and hanging rings. I have added picture framing wire so it can be hung immediately upon sale.
An unusual and beautiful piece of art.
