Antique Large Sauciere / Gravy Boat / Table Centrepiece
A beautiful and large antique ironstone sauciere with a very pretty blue transferware design of delicate leaves and butterflies on a buttery creamy beige background. I think it would have been cream originally but has aged to this hue over time. Each part of the sauciere has a slightly different design (on the same theme) which is a lovely touch.
Origin: Looks French
Era: Mid-Late 19th Century
Materials: Ironstone, blue transferware
Comdition: Absolutely beautiful antique patina. Crazing to the glaze but in excellent condition with no chips, hairlines or cracks. Please note that the gravy boat is secured to the base as is normal for this period.
Size: Height 12 cm / Width 28 cm / Depth 17 cm.
Perfect to be used as intended - as a sauciere / gravy boat - but I think it would look beautiful filled with little bulbs for spring or with dried flower heads as a centrepiece. A timeless and versatile iterm for your home.
