A fine mid-19th Century English Spode porcelain feeding cup, decorated in the sought after blue and white "Tower" transfer pattern.  First introduced in 1815, the design is based on an engraving of the Ponte Salaro near Porta Salara, taken from Merigot's Views of Rome and its Vicinity (1798).

The cup features a gently flared spout and loop handle, with crisp transfer decoration and delicate detailing.  The underside bears the impressed uppercase SPODE mark, together with an additonal maker's stamp (now indistinct).

Originally intended as an invalid or convalescent feeder, this elegant piece now stands as a collectible example of Victorian social history and Spode's enduring craftsmanship.  Presented in very good antique condition, with only light wear consistent with age.
