17th Century English Carved Oak Backstool Chair (c. 1680)
An authentic late 17th-century English joined oak side chair (or backstool), crafted from solid oak with centuries of honest patina, character and tactile wear.
Exhibiting classic regional vernacular craftsmanship, the chair features an arched, scroll-carved crest. The backrest is framed by reeded vertical spindles, leading down to a plank seat with softly smoothed edges. The sturdy joined base features traditional baluster and bobbin front turnings.
Finished in a deep, rich dark oak tone with a lustrous sheen, it makes an exceptional accent piece in a hallway, bedside or fireside corner, pairing effortlessly with lime-washed plaster, antique brick or flagstone floors.
