An exceptionally charming and beautifully proportioned small-scale solid oak bench, dating from the early 20th century (circa 1900-1920).  This piece masterfully bridges the architectural weight of the Gothic Revival with the honest, clean, craft principles of the Arts & Crafts movement.

Constructed from thick, robust oak panels, the bench features striking slab ends that serve both as legs and scrolled armrests.  The timber features exceptional pierced cut-outs, showing delicate trefoil details at the arms and bold, gemoetric shield motifs to the lower supports.  A particularly lovely design detail is in the central hanging corbel underneath the front rail, anchored by a turned circular roundel.

At just 92 cm wide, its compact footprint makes is an incredibly versatile statement piece - ideal for a narrow cottage hallway, a bootroom or tucked beneath a window frame.  The oak retains a rich, warm historical patina with a gently mellowed grain, celebrating a century of time and careful use.
